Meet the Owner of Hounds Town Clearwater

Every dog will have its day at Florida native’s Clearwater location in Hounds Town USA! After spending the past 31 years in Michigan, Johanna Evans returned to her Florida roots to open her own Hounds Town USA, a 10-plus-unit doggie daycare franchise in Clearwater, FL. A former healthcare worker and longtime animal lover, Evans was eager to pair her passion for animals with her business prowess, bringing Hounds Town USA’s doggie daycare and training services to her local community.

Johanna has spent most of her career working in healthcare, first as a home health aid and then as a respiratory therapist. A few years ago, she left the hospital and began working on the corporate side as a Director of Business Operations.

When COVID-19 hit, Johanna decided to take the voluntary severance offered by her company to seek new opportunities. Growing tired of the Michigan weather and longing for warmth and sunshine, she decided to move back to Florida. Returning to Florida, she became licensed to sell life and health insurance to keep herself busy and bring in some income. However, she also started looking for opportunities to do something more fulfilling and own a business.

Johanna has always been a big animal lover, and when searching for franchising opportunities, doggie daycare was always at the top of her list. With Hounds Town USA offering much support to their franchisees and a dedication of giving back to society through charitable giving, Johanna knew it was the right opportunity for her.

She is a proud owner of a blind dog and frequently takes care of her family’s pit bull. Unfortunately, both dogs have been turned away from doggie daycare facilities in the past as they were deemed “challenging.” Hounds Town USA accepts all dog breeds without discrimination, and Johanna wanted to be able to offer daycare services to all dogs in her local community. There was undoubtedly a need for this type of service in the area, and she was excited to provide such a highly sought-after service to her neighbors and friends.

When Johanna is not running Hounds Town Clearwater, her perfect day is spent at the beach relaxing with a good book. Otherwise, she has two dogs and a cat that keep her busy with exercise!
