Doggie Daycare/Charity Partnership Helps Pups Get Adopted

Oct 09, 2017

For Some Dogs in Need, Pet Care Facility Hounds Town Commack Rd. Offers More Than Just Doggie Daycare

When Hounds Town USA‘s fourth location opened in March 2017, owners Teri and Thomas had every intention of offering more than just doggie daycare, overnight dog boarding, and grooming. The owners quickly partnered with several dog rescue organizations to offer discounted doggie daycare and boarding services for dogs in need in their local community. “Giving back is very important to us,” explained Teri. “We have a rescue dog of our own, and we wanted to be able to offer the same love and support to other dogs waiting for forever homes.”

Teri and Thomas have recently partnered with Happy Tails Dog Rescue to offer discounted, long-term boarding options for several dogs looking for homes. While the dogs wait for homes, which can sometimes takes months, they get to play, socialize, and interact with other dogs and get lots of love and care from staff while at Hounds Town. The interaction is extremely beneficial, as the natural pack environment that Hounds Town offers helps with confidence building, behavioral issues, and learning proper manners with humans and other dogs.

After hosting pit mix Cowgirl for several months, she was finally adopted to a loving family in the beginning of September. “It’s great to see them get adopted but it’s also sad for our staff because they really love these dogs. They get attached to them!” says Teri. In Cowgirl’s place is Lucy, a mixed breed who was found tied to a tree in New York City. She was brought in to animal control and luckily saved by the founder of Happy Tails.

Today, Lucy enjoys playing with her BFF and boyfriend Harley–a doggie daycare customer. “It’s cute to watch them play and to watch Lucy interact with other dogs and wag her tail is heartwarming, given her past,” said Teri.

In addition to partnering with Happy Tails, Hounds Town Commack Rd. has also hosted two Jack Russell rescues who have since been adopted through Jacks Galore Rescue in MA. They look forward to providing a loving environment to more dogs in need as the ones in their care find FURever homes.
