Hounds Town Farmingdale Celebrates 3 Successful Years

May 24, 2018

Doggie Daycare Owners See Tremendous Success Since Purchasing Pet Care Franchise Location

The owners of Hounds Town USA’s third location, Hounds Town – Farmingdale, just hit an impressive milestone: three years as business owners that have brought a more than 60% growth to the business since purchasing the former corporate facility in May 2015. Former employees Jennifer and Candice teamed up with former customer Maria and her husband to purchase the business and have since grown it to capacity. They plan to open a second location in Hicksville, NY, to accommodate their overflow and to offer much-needed pet care services to that area.

“Clearly, Hounds Town Farmingdale is offering a much needed service to members of the community,” says Jackie Bondanza, President of Hounds Town Inc., “and they’re doing something very right. We are thrilled they have decided to open a second location and are eagerly anticipating breaking ground, as I’m sure they are. These are three very smart ladies who have spent the past several years growing their business in the right direction and they are now scaling their experience and their knowledge by opening a second store,” she says.

While most franchisees come into the system with little to no experience managing dogs, these franchisees had a leg up from working in the business for many years prior to purchasing it. Franchisees with no prior experience spend about 90-100 hours training in every aspect of the business, with a heavy focus on effective dog management, grouping, animal safety, and doggie first aid and CPR. Founder and CEO Michael Gould’s more than 40 years in commercial dog management as an NYPD canine handler and Military Working Dog program leader is the foundation of the franchise’s training program for franchisees, and for the franchisees’ success.

Another aspect of this pet care franchise that sets it apart from the rest is that it offers fully interactive daycare, which means dogs are in play groups with “friends” all day long—from 6 a.m. until the evening. “People want peace of mind knowing their animals—which are really members of the family—are not only well taken care of while they are at work or on vacation, but that they are not locked in a kennel all day,” explains Jackie. “There is a soft science to doing this effectively. This is the core of our business and part of the reason we are so successful.”
